About

One practice,
one name on it.

Cordelia is the design practice of Srichand Pendyala.

Srichand came to light the honest way: by remodeling his own house in Los Altos. The project had good architecture, good hardware, and real design behind each of its parts. What it did not have was one hand coordinating the lighting, the shading, and the environmental controls, and the evenings showed it. Noticing that gap, and then closing it hour by hour in his own house, became first an obsession and then this practice.

His first career was spent building software systems, and the habits carried over whole: simulate before you form an opinion, document so a crew can build without a phone call, and keep exactly one interest in the outcome. We design and document. We do not sell fixtures, shades, or control hardware, and we take no dealer commissions.

Every project gets the same spine. We learn how the house is actually lived in. We design the light, the shade, and the scenes around those hours. We put it on paper the builder and the integrator can execute without interpretation. And we come back after dark, ladder in the car, to tune it in place.

The work is judged by looking, at night, in the room.
